Military Scholarship Program: Service Members
Grantham University has created a Military Scholarship program to help service members surmount barriers to higher education and to express our gratitude for the men and women who sacrifice to serve our country.
The Military Scholarship for Service Members is available to active duty reservists, national guardsmen and other military service members who qualify for tuition assistance (TA) benefits.
Scholarship Eligibility
Military personnel eligible for TA may also be eligible for Grantham’s Military Scholarship for Service Members and tuition discount. National Guardsmen and Reservists eligible for TA may also qualify. TA pays up to $250.00 per credit hour until the fiscal year (FY)* cap is reached. Some National Guardsmen and reservists may only receive 75% TA benefits or $187.50 per credit hour.
*Each branch of the military has its own criteria for the amount of TA a service member receives.
What the Military Scholarship Covers
- Grantham tuition in excess of TA up to the FY cap on an annual basis
- Required textbooks and software
How the Military Scholarship Works
- The service member has no additional out-of-pocket expenses when using fiscal year tuition assistance (FY TA) money.
- The scholarship and discount covers the excess tuition for those who receive 75% benefits.
- Military students who use all of their allotted FY TA with Grantham are allowed to take one (1) additional credit hour – at no additional cost – for every $1,000.00 of TA paid. Additional credit hours must be used in the same FY they are earned.
- Military students who cap out using their allotted FY TA benefits with Grantham are given the option to continue their course work with Grantham by using alternate methods of payment like the Montgomery GI Bill (if eligible), or independent financing.
A military student who chooses to continue his/her education with Grantham should be aware that he/she may have out-of-pocket expenses once the FY TA monies are exhausted. The FY for the military runs from October through September. A student may also take advantage of the Veterans Scholarship program.
A student using military Tuition Assistance (TA) who enrolls in more than one course must complete all courses in the eight-week (56-day) enrollment period.

Fast Track Degree Programs
Grantham's asynchronous delivery method affords you great latitude in progressing through your studies. You study on your own schedule and are strongly encouraged to interact with your course instructors on a regular basis to maximize your learning experience; you advance as quickly as you can learn. The only requirement for active duty service members is a high school diploma or GED. Grantham’s academic programs are structured for ease of entry, and include refresher courses to equip the service member with the foundation necessary for success. Grantham will evaluate your prior college work and military training for credit toward your degree. Grantham also awards credit for CLEP and DSST exams.
