Specialist Stephanie Lopez receives one of fifty-four Scholarships to attend Grantham University. SPC Lopez, a member of the Army National Guard for five years, serves with the 159th Finance Detachment in Phoenix, Ariz. SPC Lopez will be awarded the scholarship in a presentation during her drill weekend on December 1st.

Warrant Officer 1 Michael Burns will be awarded one of fifty-four Scholarships to attend Grantham University. WO1 Burns, a member of the Army National Guard for nine years, serves with the Joint Forces Headquarters in Phoenix, Ariz. WO1 Burns will be awarded the scholarship in a presentation on Sunday, December 2 at the Joint Forces Headquarters at the Papago Military Reservation.

Makeover complete, but Gilyeat still can't believe his eyes. Standing across the street from his home on Sunday morning, Daniel Gilyeat stole occasional glances at his brand-new house. Each time, a slight smile crossed his face and a slight shaking of his head from side to side was barely perceptible. It was as if he didn't trust his own eyes; he couldn't really believe what he was seeing.

The typical observance of Veterans Day got flipped around Sunday at the Kansas City, Kan., setting of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Instead of a community ceremony to thank veterans for their service, wounded veteran and new homeowner Daniel Gilyeat thanked the community for its service.

Grantham University Provides Scholarship to Wife of Wounded Soldier. Grantham University announced it's providing a four-year scholarship, including textbooks and software, to a wounded soldier's wife in Lowry City, Mo. The soldier, Sgt. George Bellis of the Missouri National Guard, was not able to accept the scholarship himself because of severe injuries sustained while serving in Iraq.

Grantham University, an online university specializing in educating working adults, today announced that the U.S. Army Warrant Officers Association (USAWOA) Scholarship Foundation awarded a four-year Grantham University scholarship to Maryanna Hedge.

University, Magazine Team Up for Scholarships. Grantham University in Kansas City, Mo., announced that it will provide one full, four-year scholarship to an Army National Guard soldier in each of the 54 states and territories. The University will work with GX Magazine, a national publication for Guard members and their families, to provide these scholarships.

Kendra Carpenter, a third-grade teacher at Chouteau Elementary, was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award and a scholarship to Grantham University.

Grantham University and GX magazine Offer $1.8 Million in Scholarships to Army National Guard Soldiers. In conjunction with GX magazine, a nationwide publication for members of the National Guard and their families, Grantham University is providing one full, four-year scholarship to an Army National Guard member in each of the 50 states and four U.S. territories including DC, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The scholarship, which covers tuition costs, required textbooks and software, is valued at $34,000.

Grantham University's Academic Dean Elected Board Secretary of The Council of College and Military Educators. Grantham University announced its Academic Dean, Greg Garcia, PhD, was elected as the Board Secretary of The Council of College and Military Educators (CCME). CCME is the only national organization for professional military educators. "Grantham University has a long history of providing education to service members," said Greg Garcia, Academic Dean of Grantham University. "We began serving uniformed members with engineering courses half a century ago. As we expanded and modernized our online programs, we worked hard to lend positive support to CCME's efforts."

Feeling of home lost - and found. Melanie Mayer never took herself for a Midwestern gal. That changed after Katrina hit New Orleans, where she lived with her two daughters and husband. They were unharmed and except for downed trees, their home in Covington outside New Orleans was spared. "I had a beautiful home," Mayer said. "But our jobs were washed away."

Grantham University Appoints Dr. Herbert London, President of the World-Renowned Hudson Institute, to its Board of Governors. Dr. London is a professor emeritus and the former John M. Olin professor of humanities at New York University (NYU). He was responsible for creating the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at NYU in 1972 and was its dean until 1992.
